UNION SQUARE—Changes are afoot at the Paul Smith store on Fifth Avenue. A reader writes: "The Paul Smith shop on 5th Ave at 16th Street has expanded - they've converted part of their downstairs where they've now got shoes, some of the home furnishings like the Maharam PS fabric pillows and Thomas Goode china and books." LOWER EAST SIDE—Shops south of Houston are banding together with a special shopping event. Beginning tonight and running through December 20th, stores like Earnest Sewn, Babeland, Frock and Girls Love Shoes are staying open until 9pm and offering 5 to 10% off of items purchased between 6 and 9pm. You can then bring your receipts to participating restaurants to get some money knocked off your dinner. That is, if you don't mind looking a bit chintzy. [RackedWire]
