RackedWire: American Apparel LES Getting Bigger, Volcom Soho-Bound

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

LOWER EAST SIDE—We have word from three different sources that the American Apparel on the corner of Houston and Orchard Streets is expanding again. A Racked source writes: "Is it common knowledge that American Apparel is taking over the restaurant space on Orchard behind the store that housed Kitchen & Cocktails?" Well, this is the first we've heard of it. This raises a few questions. If this rumor is indeed true, what could Dov and his minions possibly fill all that space with? Would this then be the largest American Apparel on the East Coast? If you've got answers, well, let's hear them. [RackedWire Inbox]

SOHO—Clothing company Volcom is grinding into Soho. The Real Deal has it that the brand's signed a 10-year lease at 446 Broadway between Grand and Howard Streets. The store will be 3,000-square-feet of pure skate, surf and snowboarding gear awesomeness. [The Real Deal]
