Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
The West Village is getting a bathroom, but not the kind you retreat into to powder your nose (or to take a dump). Charming Charles Street boutique The Bathroom is bringing its upscale skincare, candles and body products to Greenwich Avenue between Jane and West 13th Streets. The tiny new shop will feature most of their popular brands, such as Molton Brown, but will be a little swankier, with an expanded men’s shaving section, new candle fragrances, and new brands.
The demi Bathroom, if you will, was scheduled to open earlier in the week. When we visited, however, work was still in progress. They're poised for a weekend opening, should they surmount their current Verizon phone and power system problems. If this second store is as elegant as their first, we have a feeling we’ll be spending as much, if not more, time in The Bathroom than usual.
