Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
The Steve Madden outlet that popped up on the Ludlow and Rivington Streets is closing down. According to a sign seen at the store, everything must go, which means that the man's already inexpensive shoes are even cheaper ($5!). Are they clearing out stock so they can use the space as a genuine Madden outpost, or is the footwear designer abandoning the LES for good? We can only hope it is the latter, though it is probably the former.
