Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Scoop is really amping up the competition in the boutique chainlet market. Not only are they soon relaunching their website, but they've begun selling beauty products. The carefully-edited selection from brands like Anthony Logistics, CO Bigelow, Korres, Malin + Goetz, Mario Badescu and Peter Thomas Roth was unveiled night before last at the company's MePa shop. (There was also an assortment of self-tanning potions and girly items sure to sate a certain segment of the Scoop-going population.) The products are not available online and are currently only being sold at this location—obviously, if they sell a lot of scented candles and face scrubs, odds are that every Scoop in the nation will soon be stocking this stuff. Well, we really have to hand it to Stefani Greenfield: this is a good, smartly-timed move. Okay Intermix, how are you going to counter this one?
