Ikea isn't the only store slated to open soon in Red Hook. The ladies of wine bar Tini are expanding their holdings in the neighborhood with a new shop/cafe at 293 Van Brunt Street. Home/Made will showcase an eclectic array of home furnishings such as books, cards, candles, linens, industrial antiques and vintage pieces from old warehouses as well as furniture hand-crafted by co-owner and metalworker Leisah Swenson. The idea of the shop, which is slated to open the first week of December is, per co-owner Monica Byrne, a "funky little apartment where everything is for sale." During warmer months, the duo will turn the backyard into a cafe serving grilled pizzas, flatbreads, burgers and the like. They are also using the storefront to host a supperclub, with dinners once or twice a month at a long table at the center of the space (the first will be Thanksgiving dinner). Lots of concepts for one storefront, no?
