RackedWire: Walgreens Changing Things Up In Times Square, Lululemon Expanding

New, 2 comments

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

MIDTOWN WEST—Our friend Bob Egan, aka The Spacefinder, sends the above image with this note: "With the new Walgreens going in, the red plastic sign which seems to have been there for years is coming down off 1 Times Square." Walgreens, must you destroy everything that makes this city great? [RackedWire Inbox]

UNION SQUARE—Yoga-focused sportswear shop Lululemon Athletica is opening a location in Union Square. The showroom/store will be open the day after Thanksgiving and will offer a smaller selection of goods than their Columbus Circle flagship. Good news for fans of the brand: The staffer we spoke to assured us that it wouldn't be Lululemon's last Manhattan outpost, as they are planning to expand a great deal in the next year. [RackedWire]
