Above The Fray: Dolce & Gabbana

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Above the Fray details the goings on at some of the city's biggest sample sales. Had a fantastic (or less-than-fantastic) experience at a sale? Do let us know.

Dolce & Gabbana's sexy, form-fitting threads are usually prohibitively expensive, and even their diffusion line D&G is in the hundreds, but thrifty shoppers can grab clothes from the high-end label for almost reasonable prices at the Dolce & Gabbana sample sale, on now. A Racked correspondent, who hit the sale this morning when it began, checked in to let us know that it was, in her words, "fucking awesome." The report:

I was almost freaked out by the sheer volume and great selection of merchandise. There were shelves of shoes ($150 to $300), belts ($74 to $150) and dresses and sweaters (priced around $225). They also had an underwear and bra section and a kids' section. All the shoes seem to be size 39. The space where the sale is being held is big and very organized. The one drawback: there was a long wait for the dressing room, and once I got there, it sucked. It was really small, there was only one mirror, no racks to hang anything on and it was packed with people. The dressing room was like a war zone.
If you're in desperate need of a bustier dress, the sale runs through this Sunday.
