Orangetheory Fitness—a nationwide boutique fitness chain that leads participants through hardcore training at treadmill, rowing, and weight stations—is poised to dominate New York City's workout scene in 2015, according to Well + Good. Following a Chelsea studio that's slated to open within the next few weeks (an exact date is not yet set), they'll be landing in Brooklyn, Staten Island, and surrounding areas like Westchester and Milford, Connecticut—to start with.
"We expect to open between 50 to 70 in our territory alone," Chelsea franchise co-owner Jessica Kumari told the site. "We're just trying to paint this region orange."
So what sets them apart? Think of Orangetheory Fitness as the data-driven version of Barry's Bootcamp—participants' heart rates are monitored throughout the class to make sure each person is in his or her ideal target range ("the Orange Zone") to maximize the calories burned both during and after class. Their site promises increased energy and rapid changes to body appearance, including a three-to-five-pound weight loss when attending classes three times per week along with proper nutritional guidelines.
At this location, which will be the largest in the country with a 34-student capacity and full-service locker rooms, classes will be $34 each—but can be purchased at a lower rate during their pre-sale right now. Contact the studio for more information.
