LOWER EAST SIDE—"Why should models get all the pretty clothes this week?" asks Hester Street Fair. Great question, Hester Street Fair. To solve this injustice, they'll be hosting Pet Fashion Weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Expect everything devoted to the furry, the feathery, and even the scaly: Pet vendors, a pet café, a pet runway, and a pet photo booth complete with props. Stop by between 11am and 6pm for all the tail-wagging fun.
MEATPACKING DISTRICT—Wonder what Barbie is wearing these days? Obviously, she's dolled up for NYFW—check out her one-of-a-kind outfits from Charlotte Ronson, Cynthia Rowley, Rebecca Taylor, and more at the Barbie & CFDA Fashion Lounge on Saturday between 11am and 4pm and Sunday between 11am and 6pm. Check out the space at the corner of 14th Street and Ninth Avenue, complete with phone charging stations and complimentary drinks.
SOHO, MEATPACKING DISTRICT—If Barbie and the CFDA can collab, then why can't socks and ice cream get together for a weekend? Catch the Happy Socks x Mister Softee truck in front of the former's store at 436 West Broadway on Saturday between 12pm and 6pm and on Sunday on 15th Street between Ninth and Tenth Avenues. Grab a free ice cream (chocolate or vanilla, sprinkles or plain, cone or cup) and a coupon for two-for-one socks.
NOLITA—Got a beauty emergency? Let Ricky's NYC solve it for you. Starting Saturday, September 6th, they'll be popping up at 63 Spring Street with an Urgent Beauty Care store, featuring products and tools used backstage at NYFW. The shop is open daily from 9am—10pm for the next two weeks, after which it will be converted to a Halloween costume shop.
BUSHWICK—Looking for cheap-priced—but not cheap-looking—wardrobe updates? Head over to the Thrift Disco Swap Shop at Radio Bushwick tomorrow between 12pm and 4pm. Bring up to 25 pieces of clothing (accessories and shoes included) in good condition and swap for as many items as you brought in for $2 apiece. For more information about the event, including how to make sure everything is swapped fairly (and you're not trading designer for fast fashion), head over here.
BROOKLYN HEIGHTS—The Underground Thrift Store is reopening for the season on Sunday, September 7th, resuming its regular hours of 12:30pm to 4pm. Stop by to check out their newest fall fashions for men, women, and children at ridiculously good prices.
