Back in Victorian-ish times, hand jewelry served as an entire mode of communication. A pendant with an outstretched index finger and pinky signaled "begone, evil eye hex" while a tightly closed hand meant, "I like you, like you." Today's palm-shaped designs—resurrected by a bevy of New York designers—don't say anything so specific (with one exception: Wendy Nichol's badass, bird-flipping ring), but they do lend outfits a subtle witchy vibe. Tiny high fives all around!
