As part of a major stateside push, German luxe accessories brand MCM is opening a 4,000 square-foot flagship store at 100 Greene Street, according to WWD. The brand says they're aiming for a fall opening.
"This freestanding location will serve as a model for future store openings," said international CEO Paolo Fontanelli, which the paper says will display "Bauhaus style with its clean lines, open space, and simplicity."
Currently, its only independent store in the United States is within the Plaza Hotel. After the New York store opens, units are planned for Miami, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago.
Though the brand has been around for several decades, it's experienced a resurgence here as of late. "A snowball effect has kept the brand present in the U.S. market," Fontanelli said, citing celebrity fans ranging from Beyoncé to Cara Delevingne. "With the opening of this flagship, we'll capitalize on this momentum."
MCM is taking over the former home of Jill Stuart, which vacated this address in the spring.
