Okay, so maybe Christmas shopping isn't high on your list of priorities right now. But come November, you'll be glad that the midtown Topshop and downtown 10 Crosby Derek Lam have arrived in New York—just in time for (self) gifting season. That's the month that WWD says these two stores that we've had our eye on will finally be opening their doors.
First up will likely be Topshop, as the trade paper gave it the designation of "early" in the month. It'll be their second-largest store in the world at 40,000 square feet on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 49th Street—just up the block from the H&M megastore—and owner Sir Phillip Green is calling it their "most important store opening in a long time."
Expect to find the full range of offerings for men and women, plus some unique products for the American market and an emphasis on personal shopping.
And further downtown, Derek Lam is preparing for the first retail outpost of his contemporary collection at 115 Mercer Street. The designer told the paper that the store's aesthetic will reflect "an earthiness, a little more approachability," and also feature the debut of the label's handbag line. Expect to see the debut of e-commerce for both brands around that time as well.
