Jumelle's annual sample sale is scheduled to open at 11am today, and we stopped by yesterday for a little preview. With international and local one-of-a-kind designer finds at up to 75% off, it's well worth braving the polar vortex—just be sure to wear your snow boots.
Among the coziest selections are chunky sweater knits from A Détacher, including a floor sweeping vest and a pair of high-waisted fold-over knit pants for $179. Warming us from the rack was a Sayaka Davis duster for $275, a full length winter coat from Apeice Apart for $550 and a charcoal heather grey wool camp blanket for $100.
Some stand out pieces that had us dreaming of spring include a graphic print Cedric Charlier origami dress for $325, a long printed Isabel Wilson dress for $198, light blue Kiely Kimmel leather shorts for $220 and a variety of printed pieces from Raquel Allegra.
If you're looking to update your basics, we spotted a few pairs of grey Rag & Bone skinny jeans, bodysuits from Raquel Allegra, black Hope button down cotton shirts, and Correll Correll embroidered white tees for $65.
What the shoe selection lacked in variety it made up for in pure style, with black patent leather creepers from Robert Clergerie and zip front loafers from 10 Crosby by Derek Lam for $230.
Not everything had prices when we left the shop last night, but we are sure the leather cut-off tees and white leather pleated skirt from Priority of Ten will sell quickly. Other brands we saw on the racks included Christophe Lemaire, Rachel Comey and Gary Graham. Pieces from Electric Feathers and Base Range were still being unpacked, so they're sure to have more merchandise at the sale when it opens.
If you decide to brave the storm, you'll most likely uncover a gem or two. If not, the sale runs through Monday and is open from 11am to 7pm daily at 168 Bedford Avenue between N. 8th and N. 9th Streets. Cash and credit cards accepted.
