Shipley and Halmos decided to open a pop-up shop near their Greene Street office, at 385 Canal Street. Since Canal is known more for its fake fashion, rather than real fashion, the S&H crew took advantage of the surroundings and made the entrance of the pop-up resemble a typical tchotchke stocked, knockoff-selling storefront.
The stuff in the front is all limited-edition and collaboration items made specially for the store. You can get postcards for $1, keychains for $2, koozies for $5, foam "TAXI!" fingers for $15, beanies for $25 and scarves for $75. There are five tees for $40 a piece that resemble typical touristy shirts, but are tweaked with clever phrases. The brand's regular collection is in the back.
The collaborations also include twenty-five pairs of hand-painted and numbered Vans sneakers ($60), a specially formulated DS & Durga scent ($120), and twenty-five BillyKirk iPhone cases/wallets ($150).
The back of the shop houses the Shipley and Halmos spring 2014 line, with prices that range from $75 to $895 for leather jackets. There's a full range of sizes available for each item, with more stock in the back. The shop officially opens today and runs through Febraury 23rd. Shop hours are 11am to 6pm daily.
