Earlier this year, Barnes & Noble announced it was closing up its 105 Fifth Avenue college bookstore, and the space already has plans to replace it. Banana Republic has signed a lease for the location, and will shutter its other two stores on Fifth Avenue (one men's and one women's) and consolidate them into one big new one.
The Real Deal points out that Gap Inc. is really monopolizing in the area: the company already has a handful of other stores in Flatiron, including the newly-opened Athleta, plus Old Navy, Gap, Gap Kids, and Gap Body.
