Wilderness fragrance brand Juniper Ridge creates its scents from natural ingredients found alongside hiking trails and campsites—like tree trimmings, bark, moss, and mushrooms. All of the brand's products are created from start to finish on the West Coast, but for the holiday season, they've opened a pop-up shop in Williamsburg, where products are occasionally made on the spot using a converted whiskey still.
In the video above, Juniper Rider founder Hall Newbegin walks us through the process of turning clipped leaves into a shelf-stable scent, and explains how, by going back to old-fashioned distilling techniques, the company stands out among mass luxury perfumers.
