In an article analyzing Manhattan's skyrocketing retail rents, Crain's New York made mention of a potential Topshop on Fifth Avenue. Though Herald Square is pining for the store, it sounds like the second New York City location is headed for Midtown West. Real estate brokers explain that the retailer wants to "be near competitors such as Uniqlo and H&M." Keep thy enemies closer.
If they decide to open on Fifth, the monthly rent's going to cost them a pretty peony. Crain's reports that the average rent on the strip between West 49th Street and West 59th Street is $3,050 a square foot.
Update, 02/05: We have a location: the corner of 49th Street and Fifth Avenue.
