We stopped by the LES branch of The Reformation for the start of their sample sale today, where we found all sorts of clothing at discounts up to 70% off retail prices. And by all sorts, we mean that you can find something for your upcoming beach vacation and sweaters and such for the cooler weather to come. All sale racks are in the back of the store, and each item's price is individually marked on the tag. We've taken note of some of the prices here to give you an idea of what you'll find.
Starting with the summer wear, you'll find some printed bralets for $59 (from $98), including that leopard-print one that's in the gallery. There are silky printed shorts for $79 (from $128), a black mesh tee for $46 (from $98), and a summery maxi dress with a green flower print for $45 (from $75).
The only accessories we saw for sale were eight bags, mostly made of straw, so we'll put them in the summer category. The bags, all small, ranged in price from $37 to $57.
Transitioning into cooler weather, we saw a black jumpsuit with a low back for $129 (from $215) and a printed jumpsuit for $115 (from $288). There was also a great long black dress with sheer side paneling for $57 (from $95). Black silky pants go for $78 (from $195), and a leathery skirt is $70 (from $175). A black velvet dress is $66 (from $128) and a black and white shirtdress is $113 (from $188)
Going in to full-fledged fall, there were lots of sweater tops of varying lengths, both in the sleeves and the midsection. Cropped tank and short-sleeved sweaters in solid colors are $47 and $71, respectively, while long-sleeved cropped sweaters are $50 (from $125).
A "regular" navy sweater—aka no cropping—with a black leather panel across the chest is $52 (from $125). There's also one rack of jackets that includes cropped black leather jackets for $335 (from $558) and stone-washed jean jackets with a furry trim on the collar for $135 (from $225).
While there's no problem finding cute stuff at this sale, it's another matter whether you can find it in your size. The store manager told us that there may be some items in other sizes in the back, but she said it's pretty limited. Still, it wouldn't hurt to ask. The sale goes through next Thursday at both this store and the Soho store on Howard Street.—Laura Gurfein
