The Meatpacking District window shop being installed at 30 Gansevoort Street
All week we've been hearing buzz—and receiving tipster e-mails (thanks!)—about Kate Spade Saturday shops being installed around downtown Manhattan. Turns out the brand—which is the lax little sister in the Kate Spade empire—is launching a month of 24-hour window shops with the help of eBay. Four locations across downtown Manhattan—175 Orchard Street, 154 Spring Street, 7 West 18th Street, and 30 Gansevoort Street—will be available to shoppers 24/7 from June 8th through July 7th.
A shoppable screen will blur the line between online shopping and brick-and-mortar retail. You approach the screen, browse product, and checkout. Your item is delivered in about an hour (or can be scheduled within a week). There are 30 products to browse, with new items launching every Saturday. With the shops available all day and night and located in big nightlife neighborhoods, drunken online shopping should be completely redefined by the experience.
For more information on the brand itself, head to our sister site, who recently wrote about how Kate Spade Saturday might be bigger than J.Crew, and six other things you should know about it.
