If riding a bike outdoors or spinning on a stationary one inside the gym has lost its appeal, here's an alternative: aquaspinning—in which you pedal your heart out underwater. Tribeca is getting its very own Aqua studio this month, and they've neatly compiled ten reasons why you should consider trying it out.
They include (in order of most to least importance, according to us) the fact it effectively burns cellulite, you'll sleep better, and that "Europeans love it." (Additionally, it will also enhance blood flow and improve cardiovascular endurance—it's exercise.) Bonus: from what we hear, the water resistance ends up being great for your abs.
Naturally you wear a bathing suit, but it's probably not recommended that it's any sort of loosey-goosey bikini. Invest in a one-piece, and they provide the rest—a towel, soap, and shampoo, with rubber shoes available for a $2 rental fee.
A trial class costs $34 for first-time spinners, and after that a drop-in will cost you $40. A five-class pack starts at $190, and the bundles go all the way up to $990 for thirty classes. Heads up, though: Right now it's female only, but men interested in taking a spin can email the studio here. Friend's and family week ends on the 14th, and the official opening is that following Monday.
