Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
UPDATE: This is the map from 2013. See the new-and-improved, updated map for 2014 here.
For those of us with the average teeny-tiny New York City apartment, decorating it so that it feels relatively spacious, clean, organized, and cute can all be a challenge. Fortunately, there are no shortage of stores to help you spruce up your humble abode in the city.
After the jump, we've mapped out 38 of our favorites, including no-brainer chain staples like Ikea and Crate & Barrel, unique showrooms, and higher-end options for really taking your home to the next (adult) level. To narrow down the pool, we've left off anything that hasn't been open for at least six months (we'll see you next time, Steven Alan).
Did we miss one of your favorites? We'll be updating the map periodically, so let us know your thoughts in the comments section or send an email to tips@racked.com.—Reporting by Madeline Berg and Kelly Marshall
