The simplest way to transition between seasons is accessories, but what can tricky here is finding the right place to procure them—particularly jewelry. As personal as perfume, jewelry needs to hit all the right notes: style, sentiment, and substance. The big names—Cartier, Tiffany—are easy to find, the department stores all stock some collection of costume and fine, and you know where to find a cheap necklace for ten bucks on the fly.
Nestled in the boutique realm are a few truly special gems—pun intended—that lovingly stock amazing pieces at all price points. From antique to handmade, one-of-a-kind to affordable-but-unique, we've mapped ten of New York City's best stores for jewelry shopping. They're all yours, after the jump.
Update: We've unfortunately found out that Alibi has closed, and regret 1.) the error and 2.) not being able to shop there in person anymore. We've since replaced it with one of our runner-up stores, Elleven in Brooklyn.
