Nine local shops on Historic Front Street are still shuttered post-Hurricane Sandy, but thanks to the crowd funding website Lucky Ant, their customers are still able to make much-needed purchases online while they work on rebuilding. DNAinfo reports that the string of Seaport stores and restaurants, which includes The Salty Paw dog groomer and dermatologist Bobby Buka, have banded together with the site to allow shoppers to purchase gift cards that will be redeemable once the stores reopen.
The site also allows users to make recovery donations, and so far, $8,350 has been raised. As the article explains, the gift card purchases and donations are giving the stores the support they need now, since many of them won't be able to open back up until the spring or summer. The Salty Paw, however, has since relocated to a temporary space at the Seaport Animal Hospital.
