Don't fret if you haven't yet shopped a Theory sale this season, because this morning, Clothingline kicked off Theory's fourth sample sale in the past three months. Even still, there's no shortage of cozy knits and sleek tailored pieces for both guys and girls—but luckily, crowds have dwindled and we were able to get in at lunch time today without an entrance queue.
Unlike the previous Clothingline sale that offered a full range of sizes, this one is a mixed bag and primarily consists of true samples (or what Clothingline has dubbed "irregulars"). This also means that many pieces are damaged or one-of-a-kind. To make the deal even sweeter, pricing is considerably lower that the last Clothingline sample sale—we're talking 75% or more off retail prices.
For girls, the sample pieces have hang tags labeled "one size" and that "one size" seems to spread from a 0 to a 6 or a x-small to a medium. That means a visit to the communal fitting room is mandatory, and you will probably need to wait your turn. During our visit, the line for the fitting room fluctuated quite a bit depending on general traffic within the sales floor.
There were plenty of pima cotton tees and sheer collared tops for $45 a piece. We also loved the super soft space dyed and marbled cozy sweaters for $50. Dresses were $65 each regardless of style. The spread included a cozy houndstooth patterned sweater dress, tweed sheaths, and a rack full of billowy white eyelet sundresses.
If you're a fan of the brand and can navigate yourself into their sample size, then the tailored pieces are not to be missed. There was plenty of Theory's popular dark suiting pieces (blazers for $85 and bottoms for $45), but we loved the more playful options. There were also tons of plaid mini skirts, velvet cropped pants, and brocade jackets that featured luxurious fabrics.
For the guys, there were several racks of dark suiting, chinos, and button front shirts. (Shirts are $45, blazers are $100, and pants are $50). One big highlight in the menswear departmen is the outerwear, which is priced at $135.
If you do swing by, take a pass through the few racks of Helmet Lang pieces nestled in the back corner. The ladies' section featured stone washed denim and minimalist blazers.
The Theory and Helmet Lang sale continues at Clothingline through Thursday, January 17th. For full details, check out our dealfeed. — Kiran
