Balenciaga currently has its branding on three storefronts in Manhattan, though only one of them is open. The upcoming outpost at 148 Mercer Street is still under construction, and the Chelsea location is currently closed due to damages incurred during Hurricane Sandy. However, a new location just opened downtown: a temporary store at 138 Wooster Street.
WWD reports that the boutique is being billed as a "seasonal store," since it opened just in the nick of time to showcase the pre-spring 2013 collection. The company added that the Wooster Street spot is "the first step in Balenciaga establishing a major presence in Soho." Hopefully the second step—the long-awaited completion of the Mercer Street branch—isn't too far behind.
