2012 has been a big year for shoe department makeovers: Within the past few months, Barneys, Saks and Macy's all completely overhauled theirs. Now, WWD reports that Lord & Taylor is looking to do the same, as the company preps to embark on a massive renovation that could cost around $75 million.
The article explains that the second level of Lord & Taylor's Fifth Avenue flagship "will be converted almost entirely to shoes." Additional plans include upgrading the designer and contemporary floors, and converting 80,000 square feet of office space to selling space. (The main and 10th floors were also recently made over as well.) Considering the department store turns 75 this year was founded in 1826, now seems like an appropriate time for a few extra spruce ups.
