It didn't take long for the major department stores to reopen, and somewhat surprisingly, it didn't take long for the smaller boutiques, either. Out of the stores we've surveyed so far, the general trend is this: Most of the Brooklyn stores are open for business, and some of them were able to open as early as yesterday. Mostly all of the downtown shops, particularly in the East Village, Soho, and the Lower East Side, are closed due to a lack of power.
We'll be updating the list frequently once more boutiques reopen their doors. (We're expecting a pretty big boom next week, once ConEd turns the lights back on.) Got any info to share? Send it to the tipline, or leave it in the comments below.
UPDATE, FRIDAY, 12PM:
Housing Works: Pending power in Manhattan, the Soho and West Village locations will re-open on Saturday. Tribeca and Chelsea will remain closed.
Epaulet: The store remains closed on the Lower East Side, but it wasn't damaged and the owners are hoping to re-open this weekend. They write, "Brooklyn has a ton of foot traffic, since a lot of people can't make it into the city for work. Lots of people buying jackets for the cold weather that's settled in.
Whisk: The Flatiron District store is open. Says a rep, "Even though we have no power, we can accept cash and credit cards, and were well stocked on candles and butane torches and water bottles and things people may need."
Courtshop: Still closed, but now 10% of all denim proceeds from the website will be donated to Red Cross through Monday.
Kirna Zabête: The Soho location is closed, but they're taking 15% off all fall merchandise on the website through Sunday with the code "SILVERLINING."
The Brooklyn Kitchen: They're open in Williamsburg and collecting supplies for the Red Hook relief effort. Get more details via their Twitter.

Apple: The Meatpacking District and Soho stores are still closed, but Fifth Avenue, Upper West Side, and Grand Central opened today at 10am. The latter two have announced via the website that they're closing early at 8pm tonight. (We called the help line for more details, but all we got was a guy with a Midwestern accent who said, "I hear most of the stores are closed there, for that hurricane, you know?")
Jonathan Adler: From a mail blast: "Currently our Headquarters and stores in Soho and West Village remain closed, but our Brooklyn warehouse, Madison Avenue, Columbus Avenue and Brooklyn stores are open, as is your 24?hour pot dealer, jonathanadler.com."
