In what should be considered the greatest civic duty of all time, H&M will plant six 10-foot statues of David Beckham throughout Manhattan tomorrow to promote the soccer player's latest bodywear campaign. The statues will pop up in Flatiron, the South Street Seaport, and Fifth Avenue tomorrow, as well as in three H&M locations. Meaning, that Victoria Beckham will have six different opportunities to recreate this ball cupping photo from David's Times Square billboard.
And of course, there's a contest to go along with it. Once you've spotted one of the statues, which we're presuming will be near-impossible to miss, Instagram and tag it #HMBeckham for a chance to win one of the following: A mini limited-edition statue (out of 100), a pair of underwear signed by Beckham (out of 10), or the grand prize, a $1,000 H&M shopping spree.
Here are the locations: Fifth Avenue and 23rd Street; Fifth Avenue between 58th and 59th Streets; the South Street Seaport; and the H&M locations on Lexington Avenue and 59th Street; Fifth Avenue and 51st Street, and Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street.
As an added bonus, customers who purchase any item from the David Beckham bodywear collection will get 20% off their entire purchase at H&M from August 16th through August 19th. Finally—a legitimate reason to buy a pair of the boxer briefs, besides to just ogle the packaging.
