Just when you thought it was safe to stock up on end-of-summer festival gear comes a bed bug tale from Urban Outfitters on Sixth Avenue. Jezebel has just chronicled the store's rumored and confirmed bed bug sightings, the last of which started in June when employees began getting bit up like crazy.
According to a source, "As soon as it started getting hotter, everyone started getting bites, probably because everyone shares one communal office: bags, coats, everything goes in there." Exterminators were called in twice this month, but according to Jezebel, the critters have yet to vacate. And, "instead of taking instant action, managers threw away some old furniture and told employees not to keep their bags in the office."
Update: Urban Outfitters has sent us a statement explaining that after extermination, the Sixth Avenue location is free of bed bugs.
