Tatiana, 22, student: "I've never shopped there, but based on what I've seen, I think their clothes are modest and for girls who want to dress professionally. I know this neighborhood is very artsy, but I think will fit in for those who live in Brooklyn,
Rhys, 25, server: "I think it's stupid because there are plenty of interesting places to shop around here, and there are lots of cute boutiques. I'm down for Bedford not having another chain store, except I'm pretty excited for Whole Foods."
Vince, 23, server: "That sounds good. I usually shop there when I have enough money, and now that it's near me, I don't have to go to Manhattan, which I try to avoid."
Rebecca, 26, prop stylist: "The neighborhood is changing, so it's going to happen regardless of whether I accept it. I guess it's fine; there is nothing I can do about it."
Jen, 30, artist: "I like that Brooklyn has a lot of independent designers. It feels a little corporate—not that I don't like J. Crew, but it's like Duane Reade and Starbucks coming in. It's inevitable."
Celests, 17, student: "That's cool. It will add diversity to the types of stores here. J. Crew isn't the first thing that comes to mind when I think of this area. I guess if I were to put a big name store here, I would think something like Urban Outfitter
Venessa, CEO of Okayafrica.com and Kam, 23, music editor of Okayafrica.com: "What's J. Crew?"
Gabby, 23, actress: "Honestly, I moved here like three days ago. I guess I don't mind."
Samantha, 23, student: "That is very exciting." Seth, 24, media guy: "It's pretty good. Good place for it."
Dennis, 38, counselor at Williamsburg Prep: "I personally think it's cool, but weird at the same time. This area has so much character that having a big, commercialized store like that will change the nature of the street."
Matt, 33, production assistant: "I like J.Crew, I guess. I think I've shopped there once. It sucks that all those chain stores are coming to Williamsburg."
Jesse, 29, employee at a wine store on Bedford Avenue: "There are a lot of very expensive clothing stores in Williamsburg, and there is room for something medium price. We recently lost our precious Salvation Army Thrift Store, so the cheapest t shirt you
Joey, 20, student: "J.Crew is really expensive. I probably wouldn't shop there. I would not pay $200 for a flannel."
Bill Johnson, 32, brand manager at Okay Player: "I mean, what can I do but Kanye shrug?"
On Tuesday, a rumor surfaced that J.Crew has its eye on Williamsburg. Ever since, certain locals have been putting aside money for cardigans, while others are seriously contemplating how quickly they can move out of the area. Yesterday, we surveyed passersby on Bedford Avenue to see what they think of the street's potential new addition.
