This is Store Sidekicks, an occasional end-of-the-week feature in which we profile the fuzzy wuzzy creatures that inhabit shops across the city. If you'd like to nominate your favorite store animal, drop us a line at tips@racked.com.
When the owner of Brooklyn shop Honey & Hazel decided to pack it in and head to the West Coast, she sold the store to a friend of a former colleague, Bernadette Libonate, who decided to name her new store Milly & Earl. Today, we found out where half of that name came from: Bernadette's dog, Millie.
Bernadette says that Millie is the "ultimate mutt." She's a two-year-old Shepherd-Beagle-Rottweiler mix who was adopted as a rescue dog from North Carolina. Recently, she took home the gold medal in the Brooklyn Mutt Show for looking most like her owners. If you've stopped by the Graham Street store, you've probably noticed that she's very friendly; Bernadette explains that sometimes, she can't help but jump on and lick the customers.
