Because nothing says "holiday shopping" like a series of incredibly dark crime novels about gender-based violence in Sweden, H&M plans to launch its Dragon Tattoo Collection next month with a pop-up shop in the Meatpacking District. The 30-piece line, which was created by Dragon Tattoo costume designer Trish Summerville, launches December 14th in 100 H&M stores around the world. The MePa store will open the same day, a Wednesday, and stick around through Friday evening.
While the store will promote David Fincher's movie adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, it won't actually look like some sort of Nazi sex dungeon, thank goodness. Instead, it will operate partly as a retail space and partly, per the press release, as a "cyber café" that offers—again, we're quoting the press release here—"computer hacking activations." So if you've been looking for a way to bring down corrupt Scandinavian businesses from the inside, apparently H&M's friendly salespeople can help with that. Sadly, the press release contained no information on whether the café will serve open-faced rye bread sandwiches.
