Williamsburg just lost its two-year-old Meeker Avenue Flea Market, but don't blame the arrival of the Brooklyn Flea. Or the renovated Artists & Fleas, for that matter. According to Crain's, the problem wasn't flea marker overkill but the bankruptcy of the fair's parent company, Fratelli Ricatto, which lost its financial footing due to a personal injury lawsuit that had nothing to do with the Meeker Avenue space. We were skeptical about the market when it opened in 2009, but Crain's reports that it was starting to turn a profit, even if its Yelp reviews were somewhat disturbing. (Just don't click through if you hate cats.)
