If you thought everyone would stop obsessing over the Comme des Garçons sale just because it ended yesterday, you thought wrong. Today's WWD recaps all of the excitement and tosses in some hints about the future from CDG International CEO Adrian Joffe. While this weekend's shopping festival was the first of its kind in New York, Comme des Garçons has held similar events in Paris (in 2004 and 2008) and London (in 2006 and 2009.) Explains Joffe, "Since they are so popular and so successful, as well as being so much fun for everyone, we definitely hope to make this a regular event, every two or three years."
WWD also delved into the heated rivalry at the very front of the line when the sale opened on Friday morning. The second person there was Mark Ghuneim, founder of digital agency Wiredset, who had paid someone $100 to save his spot starting at 6am. Ghuneim said that he lives for Rei Kawakubo and can't imagine waiting in line for any other sample sale. As for the first person in line, that would be 19-year-old Hong Pak, who got there at 3am but wasn't really familiar with Comme. "I just like to camp out," she told the paper.
