It's inevitable. At some point during a season of Project Runway, the vying designers will be challenged to create dresses from something other than fabric. Flowers, for example, or candy wrappers or groceries from a Gristedes supermarket?these have all been used. There was even an episode in Season 3 where the challenger involved items from an arts & crafts store, a medium at which no one excels like Anthropologie.
For the last month or so, the Chelsea Market Anthropologie has featured a massive ballgown in its window. It's a bit whimsical, the bodice constructed of zippers that curl into rosettes on the bodice. We can only imagine Helena Bonham Carter wearing it, but that doesn't mean it's not stunning.
If you venture a tad further into Chelsea Market, there's another paper creation. Anthropologie has gathered size tags of all colors into the shape of a dress, held together by a ruffled and belted leather jacket. We can't help but think?Lady Gaga's next outfit?
