As we reported back in March, this year's Barneys Christmas theme is food. With the holidays approaching, WWD delves into the details.
Last we'd heard, Simon Doonan wanted to feature Food Network chefs but wasn't sure which ones to highlight. Now, he's settled on a roster that includes Bobby Flay, Emeril Lagasse and Mario Batali (in a window called "The Bad Boys of Food") and Anne Burrell, Paula Deen, Ina Garten, Cat Cora, Sandra Lee, Donatella Arpaia and Anita Lo ("The Gals of Food.") Another window will feature important culinary figures in the form of vapors "wafting out of a giant copper saucepan."
Barneys also teamed up with Iron Chef America to shoot their holiday catalog, which is set partly inside the show's Kitchen Stadium and partly in Japan. WWD promises us "strange and sensual images" (like the crab-Proenza goulash above) by photographer Nobuyoshi Araki. And Doonan will be guest judge on an episode of the show airing November 28.
The month or so of foodie madness—which will, by the way, benefit the Food Bank for New York City—kicks off November 16 with a book party for Lee Schrager, founder of the South Beach Wine & Food Festival.
