We're barely coming off the craziness leading up to the opening of the Rag & Bone in the old Nolita CafeColonial space, and now word comes that Rag & Bone is adding another location—this time on the Upper West Side (all together now in a collective downtown gasp of horror). Echoing the Nolita opening, the new outpost will also move into a former restaurant space on Columbus Avenue and 68th Street. Peter's, a "Cheers-like place" according to Eater (although we've also heard it called a sugar daddy hunting ground), closed in early July.
A walk past the shuttered storefront this afternoon showed no signs of life, renovations or even the tell-all permits. New York magazine reports that the outpost will open in October, but considering the delay of the Nolita opening, we'll believe it when we see it. The new store will be the brand's first foray uptown and will carry womenswear, menswear and footwear.
The shop will join neighbors like Wink, Intermix, Burberry Brit, and everyone's favorite, Uggs. Now it's time to bring on the speculation about how well this new outpost will fare. We can't say that the Burberry Brit or the newly opened Paige Premium Denim up the street are buzzing, even on a weekend, but we'll be happy to see an occupied storefront on the block.
