The bright colors and lovely floral prints at the Vivienne Tam sale were a nice pick-me-up on this dreary rainy morning. The sale is offering up to 70% off merchandise from summer and beyond, with a couple sample racks in the mix, too.
The sale is organized by type of item and then size—small (0-2), medium (4-6) and large (8-10). Our first look was at the dresses, which have always been iconic Vivienne Tam pieces.
Prices found on the racks include $120 for a lovely signature mesh netting dress in white with Asian embroidered print design, $130 for the intricately designed sleeveless "Wisteria-Print" dress (originally $395, but also on sale at the Outnet for $158), $180 for a sexy tight purple and black print corset dress and a zippered neck and shoulder lush watercolor-print mini-dress and $275 for a print mesh netting butterfly sleeve v-neck dress. We also fell in love with a drapey red tie-dye floral print silk dress from the Holiday collection for a nice $125.
Tops start around $50 for simpler designs. We also spotted black spaghetti strap evening tops with red beading flower designs for $60, long-sleeve laser-cut tunics in lush abstract prints for $120 and $130, and lovely patterned peasant tops for $195. For bottoms, skirts started at $50. We saw sixties-patterned silk pencil skirts, mesh tiered black minis, and a lovely blue and white cloisonné pattern number. Forty dollars can buy you patterned leggings galore and slouchy mesh netting pants.
Samples are mixed bag, mostly priced at $80 for random elaborate dresses. We did find a long, untouched red halter neck evening gown for a steal at $30, so there are hidden treasures in there. There are also silk patterned scarves for $40 and Chairman Mao portrait pillow cases for $15 and up.
There are no fitting rooms, but staffers were thoughtfully putting out as many mirrors as possible throughout the sale. Cash and credit are accepted and if you spend more than $200, then you'll receive a cotton butterfly print scarf as a gift (what, no silk?). Also, shoppers who join the mailing list are entered in a raffle to win the Vivienne Tam designed HP Butterfly clutch laptop (apparently seen in SATC2). Even if it's gloomy outside, it's a bright and sunny garden party in the Vivienne Tam sale.
