Trader Joe's confirmed that it was opening on 72nd and Broadway back in March, but locals could be forgiven for remaining skeptical—after all, the company denied rumors of an impending UWS presence for months before making the announcement. Well, Upper West Siders, it's time to believe. Last night, a tipster snapped photos of Trader Joe's signage going up outside flashy condo building the Corner, which will house the new supermarket. This development, of course, signals the start of a Manhattan TJs horse race. Will the Upper West Side store beat the one in Chelsea to an opening date? From the looks of things, our money is on 72nd Street.
