We're not sure it counts as a comeback, because it's not like Madison Avenue had exactly fallen off the shopping radar, but there's definitely some kind of renewal happening on the Upper East Side. DNAinfo lays out the evidence: Indian fashion house Kimaya plans to open its first US store on Madison between 63rd and 64th. CH by Carolina Herrera will take over the shuttered Issey Miyake store on Madison between 67th and 68th. Lanvin will open one block north come summer. This fall, Reed Krakoff launches his flagship a block north of Lanvin. And if you venture two blocks further, you'll find the soon-to-debut Ralph Lauren women's store. That's five major new luxury boutiques in ten blocks. Maybe the recession is ending after all.
