Last week we reported that a load of Marc by Marc Jacobs women's wear was to land at the Upper West Side and Chelsea Loehmann's locations on Friday. To perform our due diligence, we stopped by the still quiet UWS location in the afternoon to check out the items, marked up to 65% off. The Marc section is situated on the top floor in the "Back Room" to the left of the entrance. The offerings are full of bright spring colors and patterns and fans of the label will note that the clothes are from the Spring 2009 collection (including a few of the orange and khaki block pattern pieces).
As we perused the racks, here is a sampling of what we found: a strapless fuschia silk empire waist dress for $99.99, a breezy spring ruffle sleeve orange dress for $129.99 (regularly $358), an edgy cropped black and white pattern jacket for $129.00, lovely denim and chambray puffed sleeve jackets for $149.99, dark wash jeans from $59.99 to $79.99 and adorable striped ruffle tees for $49.99. We even unearthed one Marc Jacobs label navy silk ruffle tank with chain detail for $169.99 down from $685.
Downstairs, there is a very small selection of medium sized white zipper handbags priced at bag $329.99, a bit expensive for a white handbag from last year. The glass display cases also contain Marc Jacobs bags of various shapes and sizes priced around $450, if you're interested. Overall, while the items are from Spring 2009, the cuts, shapes, designs and patterns are all transferable to this season. It's just up to shoppers to decide if they want to revisit this collection again.
