Self-described vintage-countryclub-inspired boutique Gargyle just made the move across the East River from Dumbo to the Lower East Side. The new location is filled with the same great mix of clothing and accessories from under-the-radar designers like Karen Walker, Lover and United Bamboo; they've also just added brands like Acne, Surface to Air, F Troupe, BBlessing, Foley + Corinna and Opening Ceremony.
Gargyle's owners stress that the Orchard Street space is still a showroom, not a store, and is meant to complement their online business. Thus, there are slightly restrictive hours (open 10 to 6 Monday through Friday, closed weekends). But this location is more accessible than their previous one, which was in a loft on the second floor of a Dumbo warehouse. So if you enjoy browsing their website, but feel the need to try before you buy, they're here for you.
