The New York Shaving Company's midtown location just opened, but you could be forgiven for thinking it's been there since the Mad Men era. This is the second current space for the company, which also has a shop on Elizabeth Street (and once operated inside Le Parker Meridien.)
Owner John Scala's goal is to recreate the classic male barbershop, and to that end, he's outfitted the space with leather chairs, wooden display cases, and about a mile of tile. Shaves go for $45, haircuts are $33, and there's a wall full of grooming products to browse once you're done. Find it on 49th Street between Third and Lexington.
