Last night we headed over to Madewell's Fifth Avenue store to check out Alexa Chung's new fall collection. One hour into the sale, the front of the store seemed well-stocked, but according to a saleswoman, "You should grab what you can," because the clothes were going fast. Sure enough, the pony hair leopard booties were already sold out in every size but 6 1/2. We did manage to find the last box of the black version in our size, but much to our dismay, it was filled with two left feet. (Now how did that happen?)
Most of Chung's collection sold out online around 6am yesterday, although the collection went live three hours behind schedule. "Congrats! You crashed the @madewell1937 website with the purchase onslaught. Glad you like it! Xxxx," Tweeted Chung. And the Cut reports that the line has already hit eBay at marked up-prices.
Some of the collection is still available online and in stores, so we suggest sprinting to the nearest computer or Madewell store to snag a dainty dress or a chunky knit. We personally love the red pleated dress and the white lace dress. Oh, and don't get us started on those palm tree silk pajamas.—Katherine Park
